[11:24:07] actually, it generated huge log files on a bunch of systems - it's only fedora-08 that timed out because of it
[11:27:16] hmm, we probably need to tweak some more log levels first

[19:59:23] hi, I'm trying to cook a simple program using SPDK, and found that spdk_mempool_create() always fail, it turns out that rte_mempool_ops_table isn't initialized. Anybody knows if it's the correct to link the spdk & rte libs as static lib? Anything trick needs be done to trigger the rte_mempool_ops_table (which is called in __attribute__ (constructor) way)?

[22:20:12] niu_: hi, you probably want to call spdk_env_init(), which does DPDK init internally
[22:26:32] this will preallocate the hugepage memory and find physical addresses
[22:27:30] Or you might want to use SPDK event framework built on top of it. You can read about it here - http://www.spdk.io/doc/event.html
[22:29:15] yes, I called spdk_env_init() successfully. my problem is that __attributed__ (constructor) functions in DPDK are not called when initialize program. I linked the static spdk & rte lib, not sure if it's the correct way to build spdk app.
[22:32:11] looks there are two implementations of spdk_mempool_create(), one is calling into the DPDK lib, one is calling into some SPDK test lib, I guess that's the reason why I can ran SPDK examples? (they call the SPDK test lib version for mempool create?)
[22:32:12] did you use --whole-archive?
[22:32:35] no, let me try
[22:35:42] I can see SPDK uses --whole-archive on all DPDK libraries
[22:35:46] you mean use that option for building SPDK libs?
[22:35:57] so apparently anyone linking SPDK should use it as well
[22:36:48] the option for linking SPDK libs with your app
[22:36:56] btw, is there an option to build single (or few) shared SPDK lib rather than tons of static libs?
[22:37:47] not sure about that
[22:49:53] yes, --whole-archive solved the problem. thanks a lot.
